What a weekend! Despite the snowmagedon covering the UK and Europe, the travel fairies were on my side and I made it to The Coaching Academy’s Introduction to Coaching Workshop.
A two day bonanza of information.
I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I don’t think anyone felt let down by the wealth of information shared, the enthusiasm of the trainers, nor the friendliness of the other participants!
Upon arrival I was surprised by the number of people there. The workshop was full of folk, all buzzing with nervous anticipation. Thankfully the friendly trainers got us settled and introduced before the day began in earnest.
Over the two days we covered a number of interesting topics including the GROW Model, the Wheel of Life, Limiting Beliefs and much more. Even more impressively the workshop provided us all with multiple opportunities to try out and practice what we’d been learning on ourselves and our fellow attendees.
I think it is fair to say that some people had epiphany moments when they got stuck in to the application. That may have not been the case for all of us, but I think we all benefitted in one way or another.
So what now?
I’m super keen to apply what I’ve learnt to myself. But I’m also very keen on applying the learning with any of you lovely folk who may be interested.
By this I mean running some friendly and free coaching sessions.
Still want a bit more info? Well here you go!
What is Coaching? – Simply put, it’s a process the coach takes you through that takes you from where you are now, to where you want to be. It could be any aspect of your life. It is up to you to choose the destination.
So it’s like therapy or counselling? – NO! Therapy and counselling are hugely important treatments that help people come to terms with past events or serious concerns or anxieties. Coaching is about achieving forward looking goals.
Ahhhh, so it’s more like mentoring or consulting? – Close, but again no. Consulting is where you pay someone to deliver a solution for you. Mentoring is where someone experienced in the goal you wish to attain provides you with advice or guidance. Coaching is a process to help you achieve your version of success. You achieve. You grow. You succeed.
What would a coaching session actually be like? – It is a conversation that aims to help you figure out what your goals are, why they’re important to you, and how best you can achieve them. It is the little push you need to start turning your dreams into a reality.
